'The Map of Lost Memories' - revealed in Cambodia..

A Feast for the Senses - Discover the flavors of Vietnam & Cambodia
on a connoisseurs’ food tour with author Kim Fay 26 April - 9 May'13

We start our Tour in Hanoi, and end our tour in Siem Reap

We'll host a Book Club Event. Right on the hallowed grounds of Angkor Wat, Kim will lead a book club discussion of her novel, The Map of Lost Memories.  A literary adventure novel set in 1925, this novel tells the story of a young American woman who comes to Cambodia in search of a secret temple and the lost history of the ancient Khmer empire. Kim will discuss both her novel and how its story fits into Cambodia’s history
Angkor Thom is in the Bayon style. This manifests itself in the large scale of the construction, in the widespread use of laterite, in the face-towers at each of the entrances to the city and in the naga-carrying giant figures which accompany each of the towers.

A visit to these temples, will surely leave a lasting impression!

What is Cambodia all about?...

In a portrait I'm looking for the silence in someone... Henri Cartier Bresson

If you stop photographing things and start photographing light, you will amaze yourself - Steve Coleman

There are few places in this world that one is proud to be human, one is certainly Angkor - Tiziano Terzani
I purchased these above images  through a wonderful fund raiser that Gavin Gough Photographer (his link below) did.  They came in a series of 12 desktop wallpapers.. and each one gives me great delight every time I switch on my computer.

Go Gavin.. you create so much joy with your photography, either side of the lens.. (what joy for those young aspiring photographers in Cambodia Angkor Weekend Photo Workshop and what joy for those Cambodian people to be given their instant photograph.)

aah.. Cambodia.. see you in April/May with author Kim Fay.. we'll be cooking up a storm here! Tasting through the pages Tour of Vietnam/Cambodia.. 26 April - 11 May'13
Her latest novel 'Map of Lost Memories' soon to be on the shelves at a book store near you..

Every morning, this broom man walked past my hotel.. and would greet me with his lovely smile..
Such happy kids.. thanks for your smiley faces today.. just when I was missing my own children
And this monk and I had a great chat too.. he was learning to speak English, so I helped him I hope
 The veggie seller..
And the lunch stop.. with the little orange stools..
 And the Tut tut
And the two little boys who just wanted a soccer ball.. but for that treat, they helped me find the stalls in the Russian Market I was looking for..
and these two sisters.. so friendly always..ALL of you helped make my trips to Cambodia filled with kindness and generosity.. you, who have so little, but give so much!  Thank you!

More Cambodia.. thinking of Kim Fay today..

Meet Mr. Thom my Tuk Tuk driver.. he took me all over Phnom Penh.. waited patiently for me all day..
Outside the Russian market.. I mean how can one decide which ONE tea pot to buy here?..

or which one stack of cutest pottery bowls?.. in a hurry.. thanks for your patience Mr. Thom

He took me to the market as well.. yes... I did eat more than one of these delicious Rambutan's.. Rambutan is rich in vitamin C and antioxidants. Besides being able to prevent cancer, reduce falls, and prevent aging, rambutan can also increase male fertility.
The orange robes add the color to this street, totally.. and they all want to/need to learn to speak English with you..

This Restaurant is a Swinging one.. he he.. pull up a hammock and swing after lunch.. She rents out swings for those afternoon zzz's...

The FCC in Phnom Penh ..

They serve a mean Margarita.. with the freshest of home made crisps.. and the beer is cold!
Sunsets over Phnom Penh.. I wish you a good weekend..

and special thoughts for Kim Fay and  her groom today..

I didn't marry you because you were perfect. I didn't even
marry you because I loved you. I married you because you
gave me a promise. That promise made up for your faults.
And the promise I gave you made up for mine. Two imperfect
people got married and it was the promise that made the marriage.
And when our children were growing up, it wasn't a house that
protected them; and it wasn't our love that protected them - it was that
promise.
Thornton Wilder, The Skin of Our Teeth
Congratulations on your wedding.. I wish you both joy.. enjoy ...
