Aah, to the days, when you planned that 'one holiday' of a lifetime.. when you saved and saved.. and then finally when it was here.. aah.. the excitement about that trip! Then the anticipation of what to pack! And you had a list of things to buy for your holiday.. like a new sunhat, and new bathers!
Aah, to the joys in discovering the unknown country.. before television, and computers.. and before you knew all about the place even before you got there!
Aah, to the joys you found when you arrived.. aah, to the smells from that country, that no computer, or no book could ever give you.. aah, remember when you got lost?.. and couldn't remember which street your Hotel was on?.. aah to the joys of having no mobile phone overseas with you way back then, nor computer you had to travel with.. and your camera was spool! Not digital! and you had to speak to the locals for directions and assistance!
Aah, to the joys of taking a million pictures and making up a scrap book with memories collected from all over your trip.. an ice cream stick from there.. an entrance ticket to the museum from there.. a postcard bought here .. a receipt from a splurge dinner out.. .. a bit of beach sand smuggled back in your luggage.. aah to the memories of a journey!
Aah, to the joys of flying.. not having to 'have to upgrade' or the best hotel to check into.. aahs to the romance of flying..aah to the glaming up days when a bloke wore a suit and tie, and a lady wore gloves when they flew anywhere.. aah to the new outfits you had to buy for your trip!
Aah.. to the wonders of travel and discovery! Those were the days my friend..Aah, to when you returned from a trip, you had your neighbors and friends in to share you holiday pictures with.. your holiday movie camera that had everybody so bored, but instantly took you back on holiday!
Aah, to the joys of travel!
